For Oakland International Airport, Acumen designed a turnkey, wireless ID badging, access control and time-tracking system. The system had the capability to photograph authorized project personnel, issue a personalized color ID card with a unique identifier number and bar code, and track card data. When staff presented the card to a reader to gain entrance to the jobsite, the information was linked to the office database that housed employee information for payroll and identification purposes.
The system restricted access to designated points of entry through the use of turnstiles equipped with bar code readers or handheld bar code readers. The jobsite database captured the date and time of each entry and exit. This data was immediately available via the web-based management system. Acumen designed and installed the database, a wireless communication equipment/database storage system; tested system functionality; provided training to Turner’s personnel and the airport security team; and provided technical support until the program was complete.
