Seventh Annual Wheels for Meals Ride: Volunteer Spirit
As transit experts, Acumen’s staff values the bicycle as one of our favorite modes of transportation. Acumen recently reinforced that passion by joining the 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride to benefit Meals on Wheels of Alameda County in its ongoing efforts to feed homebound seniors throughout Alameda County.
Acumen’s team included Walter Allen and Farah Soltane, who each biked 35 miles across a variety of cities in Alameda County. Via this cycling-focused fundraiser, Meals on Wheels was able to raise nearly $120,000: the equivalent of 14,875 meals for homebound seniors. This volunteer effort highlight provided Acumen the chance to combine corporate passions to promote cycling in our local cities, and across the globe, as well as support key efforts to end senior hunger.
Acumen has supported a variety of organizations over the years, including:
- Boys Club of America
- Cypress Mandela Job Training Program
- Girls Club of America
- Marcus Foster Foundation
- Oakland Parks and Recreation
- Oakland Schools
- Sierra Club
- UC Berkeley
